Lynyrd Skynyrd's Influence on Brother Cane's New Album
Brother Cane is set to release their new album, "Magnolia Medicine," featuring the lead single "If This Means War." The album marks the band's first since the late 1990s and reunites them with producer Marti Frederickson, who played a crucial role in their earlier successes. Lead singer Damon Johnson, now a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, reflects on how his experience with the iconic band has shaped his songwriting. The album includes a tribute track titled "Prince Charming," dedicated to the late Gary Rossington, featuring guest vocals from Johnny Van Zant and slide guitar by Rickey Medlocke. Johnson describes the inspiration for "Prince Charming" as a spontaneous moment of creativity following Rossington's funeral. The collaboration with Frederickson has allowed Johnson to bring a wealth of experience and lyrical ideas to the project. The new material retains Brother Cane's classic sound while exploring diverse musical styles, reminiscent of the varied influences that shaped their earlier work. As they prepare for the album's release, Johnson expresses pride in the new music and excitement for future performances.
Lynyrd Skynyrd Alpharetta Concert reviews
Covelli Center 07/22/2022
The concert was good but not outstanding. Without Gary Rossington, who is recuperating from heart surgery last year and being the only living original member of Skynyrd, the band currently with the present lineup, are basically a glorified tribute band. Their concert set list remains pretty much identical to past shows of theirs I have attended. They have played the same 12 or 13 songs with maybe one or two exceptions for every concert I seen them. After this being my fifth time seeing them, this concert may have been the last time I will have seen them. But otherwise an ok concert. If you at a member of the Skynyrd Nation, they play good rockin music. Thank you for reading my review.
